Chapter 1:
The Boy and The Protester Walking along with Fred, the president gives her students encouraging phrases and smiles. “You’re doing wonderful!” “Keep up the good work!” “Oh my, that’s such a great job! Our new student will love it.” Every piece of encouragement got everyone working harder than ever. ‘Good to know I’m not the only one who thinks she’s beautiful.’ Her long blonde hair is curled and bobs along with the spring in her, her uniform’s shirt is a light blue with a large 2 on the back, and her blue skirt blows in the wind with a red and green line on opposing sides of the skirt. ‘No one but me knows.’ A gruesome memory pops into his head. “Fred?” Snapping out of his trance, he sees the girl staring at him. “U-uh, I’m okay!” He tells her. “Oh, that’s good. I can’t have my best student being stuck in a slump. Just tell me if you’re having any problems, okay?” He nods his head frantically. “Yes ma’m!” She sighs. “Can you please just say my name? You make me uncomfortable when you act like that.” Fred bites his lip. “Yes m-Recel.” She smiles. “Much better.” He gives a sigh of relief. “Besides, it’ll be good for me to make a good impression as vice president. I haven’t really done much, right?” She sucks air through her teeth. “Well, you don’t have to put it like that.” The boy chuckles. “Still, I can’t help but have some doubts.” The spring in the girl’s step vanishes. “What might you be referring to?” Points from the conversation he’d just had with Feline flash in his mind. “Well, what if he just got in because of his name? He may just be a ralician, but his mother’s one of the highest ranked knights in the world.” The girl in front of him grabs his hand. “Um, ms…?” She gives him a warm smile before leading him away from the school gardens. “Ma’m, might I ask where we’re going?” The memory he’d just shaken away appears back in his head. He gulps as the president leads him farther away from any supervision. “May I ask what brought this thought process on?” She asks in sweet, innocent voice. “Um, I’ve just been having some doubts that he may not be that remarkable, despite his family’s reputation.” She nods her head. “That’s bullcrap.” Her sentence ends with a threatening tone. “Really, I promise.” She stops. He can’t remember how long they’d been walking. It felt as if it’d been for centuries. “Fred, as the student president, I’ve come to notice all the problems that this school faces, and some of them are so secret, I can’t even let them slip just for you. However, this problem you bring up…is something I’m afraid is out of my control.” She walks up to the student council building. “Please, follow me.” Cautiously, Fred follows behind the girl. Once inside, a wave of refreshing cool hits his face. However, he can’t allow himself a moment to enjoy the a.c environment as he has to speed up with his superior. The student council building is really just an add-on to the main building, but it might as well be a separate one itself. The building holds about six different dorm rooms, one for the student president, one for himself, the vice president and number one ranked fighter at the school, and the rest of the rooms are for the students ranked 2-5. Then, after going up a rather long staircase, there can be found the respective offices of each student, save for himself, who shares an office with the girl in front of him. Once they reach the top of the staircase, Recel turns the doorknob to the door of her office and opens it. “Fred, how do you believe this school chooses the majority of students?” Taken off guard by the sudden question, he gives it a couple seconds of thought before answering with, “By going through the applicants who’re attempting to get into the school.” She chuckles. “Thousands of students go to this school for four years, where they get the best sword training in the entire world. Every year, there are 15,000 students attending this school. A gratefully large amount of them are chosen by the school. I believe around 7,000 of them. The remaining 8,000 of them are chosen by the government.” Fred’s surprise then combines with a mix of confusion. “I’d always been curious how the school had so many kids, but why the government?” She places her head in her hand, her elbow leaning on the table, and explains, “Very simple, Fred. Do you remember the law they passed last year stating that any child a knight had would need to become a knight themselves?” Almost immediately, pieces were being put together. “Well, considering this school is in the exact same sector as the government, I have to say Fred, use that head of yours.” He sighs. “Okay. So, how often do these students do…well?” Recel taps her pen against her desk. “The students picked by the government are very rarely disappointing. This is because the moment they can pick up a sword, they are forced into a life that is built upon the single goal of becoming one of the government’s knights. Adam Derris is the same, though his mother became a knight sometime after he was born, so he’s had much less training. I’m the same, being trained since I can remember because of who my parent’s where. People like you and Feline are chosen by the university because, even if your parents aren’t connected to the military’s knights, you still showed a large amount of promise. And look where you are! You’re the number 1 ranked fighter in the entire school, while still being a first year! If you want my opinion, then I’m gonna be honest and tell you that any student being chosen because of their parent’s being knights is immediately a plus for me and the university because they’ve been forced to devote their lives to swordsmanship. They’ve put in just as much work, if not more, than most of the students the university chose. Yes, I understand it seems unfair. I felt the same when I first heard how it worked. But…they really are some of the best students in the academy, most of the top twenty are made up of these kids, and I don’t expect Adam to be any different, except he’s just had less training.” After that last line, the office goes quiet. The entire atmosphere feels tense, and Fred feels sweat falling down his face as he pulls on his collar. Finally, he gives a nod of his head. “Fred, I want you to understand I had no intention of explaining this to you, and I ask that, even after earning this new information, you don’t treat any of the students at this school any differently. Your mindset, as the vice student president is to present a non biased view and treat every student here like they are equal in opportunity. Do you understand.” He looks down at the ground. “Yes, ma’m.” She stares at him, and Fred feels as though her eyes are burning into his head. Finally, she gets up and walks towards him. “I promise. Adam Derris will impress you in many ways…as he will me. So will every other student who’s pledged themselves to this academy. Okay?” She gives him another warm smile that melts his heart then and there. “Ok. I trust you.” He returns the favor with a grin of his own. “There’s my number 1.” … Walking down the academy’s gravel path, Adam can’t help but let a smile appear on his face. ‘After two years of training…I’m finally so close.’ He stares up, beaming with pride, at the academy’s name: Griffin Academy. ‘To be honest, though, the moment may be more meaningful if the idiots running the website knew how to update their map!’ His face of pride turns to rage as he attempts to strike the hologram in front of him. “You piece of crap!” The map he had found while making his way here…turned out to be made in 2996, or about nine years ago. “I guess no one really cares about keeping their students informed.” He groans in annoyance. “Screw it.” He closes the window and places his hands in his pockets. He walks aimlessly, paying no attention to where it is he’s going. “Boy’s dorms?” The building in front of him is about the size of a large hotel. “Hm, seems nice.” He puts in the sd card holding his school info. “Room 510.” He enters the building in front of him. ’N-no one’s here?’ The entire first floor, maybe even the building, appears to be barren of any other living beings. “Where is everyone?” The idea of being alone without anyone else in the building slowly becomes a plus in his mind. “Well, being alone has its perks.” He gets a mischievous smirk. ‘No, first I should put all of this away before my back gives out.’ Bringing attention to his tiring spine makes him almost collapse then and there. “Nice, an elevator!” The sign of the basic hotel necessity gives him enough determination to push forward. “Hagh!” He presses the call button, only to fall backwards. He pulls his arms out of the straps of the two bags, grabs both of them with his left hand. Once the door opens, he throws them inside and presses the button with a big 5 on it. As the doors begin to close, he can swear he sees the door open. “Huh, I guess I won’t get that alone time I was hoping for.” He sighs. “Whatever.” Once the doors open again, he drags the bags out with him and watches for his room number. “502…505…509…ah, here we are.” He touches the door handle and a holographic screen appears. “Oh, right!” He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a card with his name and a strange string of numbers and letters on it. “Code accepted. Welcome, Adam Derris.” The lock clicks. He twists the doorknob and opens the door. The scene before him leaves him frozen. … Matthew slowly pulls down the branch in front of him. “Still not here.” He checks his daggers hanging on a belt at his waist. “Nice. Soon…this will all be over.” He feels someone tug on his shirt. “What’s with the wierd, cryptic stuff?” He screams, losing his balance. As hi body begins to fall from the top of the tree, the person grabs onto his ankles. “Hold on now, I can’t have you dying without doing what I need first.” The boy groans. “What do you want, Feline?” She smiles. “I need you to sell me some info.” He rolls his eyes. “How about no? If you haven’t noticed, I’m trying to get some easy M.P.” She scoffs. “Your worse than those M.P dealers, you know that? How many people have you forced into a duel, exactly? Ten? Fifty? Surely you don’t want me reporting this to the school, do you?” Matthew gives her a dirty look. “What do you want?” She asks, “Witch room does the new kid have?” Matthew shakes his head. “Don’t know.” She loosens her grip. “Come on, I know your criminal brother helped you bug everyone in this school. Even that stupid vice president. So come on, you must know something.” After she once again begins to loosen her hold. he gives in. “510! 510!” She gives him a sweet face. “See, was that so hard?” He shakes his head no. “Still, I don’t think I’m done with you yet.” He gives her a horrified look. “W-what else could you possibly need from me?!” She scratches her chin. “You’re going to help me chase off the new guy.” … “Code accepted. Welcome, Adam Derris.” The lock clicks. He twists the doorknob and opens the door. The scene before him leaves him frozen. The entire room is complexity cleaned out of any items. No beds, no desk, no nothing. However, that’s not the weirdest thing in the room. Instead, the weirdest thin was that there is a girl, sitting cross legged, in a wooden chair in the middle of the room. Frozen, Adam just stares at her. Her face is a simple cocky smirk and half closed eyes. “Why are you in my room. No, why are you in this building?” He asks, confused. She chuckles. “Your mom is pretty popular, isn’t she?” His eyes widen. “What the hell do you want?” His voice turns aggressive. “Wow, wow. Calm down, guy. I’m just saying, it’s pretty impressive, isn’t it?” He hides his teeth, grinding behind his closed lips. “Yeah…sure.” She nods her head. “It sucks that’s the only reason your in this school.” Once the situation sinks in, he grins. “Oh, it is, is it? How do you know?” She gets up. “It makes sense, doesn’t it? A kid chosen by the school halfway through the year, and it just so happens that your mother is one of the top ten students in the military knights? This school must be desperate to be smiled upon. Although, I’ll admit, at least you look like you could be average. Good for you.” He doesn’t let the remark bother him, responding to her with a question: “Are you human?” She looked puzzled by his question. “Yes. What does that have to do with anything?” He can’t hold it back. “Hahahahahahahhahahahahahahha…” He lets out a long, loud belly laugh. “W-what’s so funny?!” He doesn’t answer her question for another thirty seconds, still laughing, until he can finally wipe the tears out of his eyes. “You,-hehehehehehe-a pathetic human, who has to rely on a-hehaha-special weapon to do anything, think you can tell me, someone who has none of your restrictions, that I got in because of my-my last name? Priceless!” He holds his stomach in his arms, laughing harder than he’d ever laughed before. His face shifted into one of undeniable rage. “You think you’re better than me just because I’m a human?! Fine! I’ll show you how pathetically weak you really are!” She opens a private window and begins making furious motions , tapping each option necessary. After about thirty seconds, a window appears in front of the boy. “Feline Sacret challenges you to a mercy duel. WARNING: The duel will only end if one of the participants either yells mercy or if someone suffers massive injury. Do you really want to accept?” The boy stops laughing. “Really?” She nods her head, grabbing a sword, that looks to be much lighter than his, from its sheath. “Ok…dig your own grave, see what good it does you.” He presses accept, grabbing his sword out of one of his bags also. A holographic timer that both of them can see appears, counting down from ten. “Wait, this may have been a better idea for…” “Begin!” “…outside-argh!” He feels a dagger dig into his side. He looks down and sees a small knife sticking out of his hip. “You cheater!” Adam yells. She chuckles. “If it gets a weakling like you out of this school…” Her sword begins glowing a red light. “…it’ll be worth it!” She charges at him, leaving marks in the room’s carpet. He jumps over her, hitting the ceiling, and runs for the window. “Basic beam!” He jumps out as a beam of light goes over his head. “Cushion!” A bright yellow light develops him as he crashes into the ground. He’s able to get himself up quickly and look up. The girl lands in front of him, delicately. She wins the dust off her shirt before getting back into her starting stance. “Um, Feline, this isn’t the time!” The two our their attention to a boy running toward them. His dyed black hair seems to be bouncing along with his sprint and his green eyes give off his feeling of panic. “Ignore him!” She attacks while Adam’s distracted, causing him to make a sloppy block with his arm. The sword its into it, causing blood to bleed onto the blade. He puts his free hand in front of him and yells, “Blow back!” A strong for pushes her back, and the sword out of his arm. While she’s down, he pulls up a window gauging his M.P. “4570/5000.” He whispers. “Heal.” He points at his arm. His arm is then wrapped in a blue light. “Garg!” Another dagger is put into his hip. “Hyah!” He has no time to focus on that as Feline returns to deliver a fast strike. He moves his sword to deflect the attack and counters with a strike to her arm. Before it can make contact, however, she’s already in the air and lands about thirty feet back. ‘Crap! If she’s this fast, I won’t ever land a hit on her!’ He bites his lip. ‘I need to get the knives out of my hips, or I’m not going anywhere.’ He grabs the handles of both and pulls them both out. He clenches his teeth. “Ultimate heal!” Fred casts a healing spell on Adam. “End the duel now, Adam!” Fred commands. Adam ignores his advice as Feline starts a flurry of strikes. Adam does his best to block each one. Eventually, it becomes a battle of strength as the two swords hit against each other and stay in that lock. The two swords push against each other, and the two combatants are waiting each other out. “Heh.” She ends the lock and dodges the strike, sending a swipe to his right arm. It causes a rip in his shirt, but thankfully, just that. “Everyone, get out of here!” Fred begins evacuating the other students as the two send another flurry of strikes against each other. “What happened to all that bark from before?! You’ve been defending this entire duel!” Adam grins. “Not for much longer!” She gets a confused look on her face. After a couple more counters, he finally gives his next block all of his strength and knocks her arm to the side. He lets go of his sword and charges into her, putting his hand over her face. Her face turns completely red. “Create water!” A basic spell that everyone knew, but no one had ever used in a combat situation before. About a cup of water forms in the girls mouth and flows into her throat. He pushes himself away from her as she coughs up the water from her throat. While coughing, he hears rapid footsteps approaching from behind. Adam jumps into the air and watches a flying dagger pass him by from below. He summons the sword into his hand and lets his eyes search for the other attacker. A yard away from where he is, he sees a figure standing there. Once he’s landed on the ground, he charges toward the figure. Th figure grins at him as he sends the sword into the figures side. Before his sword can make contact, the figure vanishes in a puff of smoke. ‘A clone?!’ He receives a rather brutal kick to the back of the head. Landing on the ground he sees Feline charging at him. “Rgh!” He feels another dagger enter his hip. “N-no!” He grabs the dagger in his hip and blocks the girl’s strike. ‘Not heavy. It may require closer range, but it’ll do!’ He charges at the girl, striking her sword with the basic knife. “How’s it feel, having your one advantage taken from you?!” He shoves away her sword and jumps over her. While turning around, he sends a swipe at her arm. The wound, not being major, is easy for her to ignore, and her sword begins to glow. “End times Hell Fire!” The entire area bursts into flames. Before the flames can hit him, Adam activates a basic shield. ‘Thirty seconds before this things done for. Alright, let’s go!’ He charges through the flames, dodging past every flame in his way. he sees hr just ahead, keeping the flames alive. “May my prayers keep me going…Burst of Light!” A small ball of light appears, slowly growing bigger and bigger, before being absorbed into the dagger. “Raaaaaaaa…” Before he can land a hit, the flame from all around them disappear, and, before anyone can notice. Both blades are destroyed, laying on the ground. He falls into her, both landing on the ground as well. He raises himself off the ground. “Get away from me!” He pushes himself off the ground, allowing her to get up. “So…it’s over now, correct?” The two turn to the right and see the student president, holding a glowing blue sword. As the light fades, she places it back in her sheath. “M-mercy.” Feline whispers, the duel ending with a loud, “Congratulations!” The three stay in a silent state. “Now, I never enjoy insulting the intelligence of my student, but there are always a couple exceptions.” She coughs into her hand and takes a deep breath. “ARE YOU IDIOTS?!”

The History of Knights “Oh god!” “Hang on!” “Adam!” “I’m coming!” “I got you!” The entire world surrounding him is completely blurred, but he can tell he’s holding someone’s hand, keeping them from falling. “I’m gonna pull you up, ok…” The hand he’s gripping seems to go limp and slips out of his. The body hits the ground as his body goes numb. His blurred vision is replaced with nightmarish imagery before simply darkness and a white sentence. “You will kill through incompetence. Thus, another nightmare comes to a close. … The train traversing the bridge of energy shines in the early morning light. However, the train’s windows are shuttered, so the inside of the train is mostly in darkness, save for a weak, green light in the middle of the train. “Ah!” The boy bolts up, holding his chest and tears in his eyes. “A-again?” Ever since his sister had made the choice to send him to Griffith’s academy, he’s encountered the same nightmare over and over again. However, he can’t make any sense of the blurred imagery, or who these people are. ‘Not that it matters. Despite the coincidental arrival, it’s probably nothing.’ He forces the idea into his head, opening his booth’s window shutter a small crack. The light of the sun creeps through the crack and shines in his face, making him shield his eyes. ‘Ah, crap!’ he closes the shutter, not ready to adjust to the morning light. He reaches for the headset on the opposite bench of his and places it in front of his right eye. Connecting the strap around his ear and putting the band around his head to make sure the headset doesn’t fall away, he presses the button on the headset and creates a A.R window. In front of the window, he uses his hand to make an O shape, causing the window to turn into a maps app. The window shows seven different continents all shaped like giant pentagons. Each sector is connected to the ones next to it by bridges of orange energy, and each one is connected to the smallest sector in the middle of them. He whispers, “Current location to Griffith’s Academy.” The map closes in on a farther part of one of the energy bridges and a line forms from there to a collection of buildings in the middle of the middle sector. A time remaining timer appears in the left corner of the screen, telling him he has another hour until he’ll get there. “Well, thank god for books.” He waves his hand, causing the screen to evaporate, then using his hand to make an L shape. A virtual bookshelf appears along with a search bar and, beneath that, a button with the word “Random” on it. “Sure, I’m feeling lucky.” He taps the button and in front of him appears an interactive ePub. “The History of Magic and New Earth: An Essay by Adam Derris.” … For thousands of years, the people of the original Earth had lived in a blissful ignorance of the entire universe that surrounded them. As they continued living meaningless lives, something was beginning to form in their own Solar System. However, due to their inferior knowledge and technology, they where unable to notice until it was much too late. So, on the date of November 22nd, 2030, a being arrived in New York City, where it stated that the entire planet had until this day in the year of 2100 to evacuate the planet before he destroyed the entire solar system. He called himself “The Creator.” Once the being disappeared, the human race desperately searched for a way to escape their demise. After three years of planning separately, they entered The Korean War, where North Korea attempted to kill or enslave anyone they could. They where able to exterminate all of Japan and half of China before they were stopped. After this incident, all of North Korea was placed under lock down, and was left behind to die in the aftermath of the Creator’s destruction. After this war, however, the world came to the realization that, if they didn’t come together, this may truly be the end of their pathetic race. So, in the year 2035, the governments of the U.S, Canada, Europe, and Asia signed a document that would combine the governments and allow them to work together to find a way off the planet. After the document was signed, the three governments brought their best scientists together to attempt to figure out how they could get humanity off the planet. There were many failed ideas. First, there was the Ship Pod that would blast them through space at light speed toward a certain location. However, they found that, not only was the pod uncomfortable, but that there wasn’t enough materials to make enough for everybody, and if they made it so people could send them back, there was the possibility that they never would. So, they decided that there was only one option. In the year 2090, the project was finished. The project, titled Operation SEARCHER SHIP, was a giant spaceship that was capable of holding everyone in the U.S. About the width of fifty empire state buildings, and the size of fifty, the ship had to be built in space. Food was also rationed and saved up for the journey. People had created farms specifically to create food for the journey. They had found a planet far from Earth that could support their continued existence, and, after storing the food and water on the ship, they calculated the time it would take for them to get to the planet, and where ecstatic to see that, with the speed the ship was capable of, it would only take six months, and with a year’s worth of food and water, they finally found confidence that they could survive. The U.S weren't the only ones to make a ship of this kind. Europe and Asia had teamed up to make one giant ship that could fit both of their continents. However, their trip would take at least a month more than the U.S, and there was a sort of tension, as both Europe and Asia wondered if the U.S would keep them off the planet. Despite their worries, they still had hope the U.S wouldn’t break their deal and, excluding Korea, everyone was sent onto the ship and assigned living quarters. On the date of November 22nd, 2090, everyone, along with penned animals, were sent into the stars to inhabit their new home. As they were leaving, however, the creator broke his promise and blew up the sun early. The ship holding Europe and Asia was caught in the destruction, and the U.S barely escaped. However, there was no confirmation that the ship was destroyed, and there’s a strong possibility the ship was simply knocked off course and is lost deep in space. However, thanks to the U.having luck on it’s side, they managed to stay on course. However, their trip was not easy. On the way, they ended up having to fight off aliens, deal with people that appeared out of nowhere, and even another human race that attempted to raid them. However, they managed to get past all of it, with few casualties. That is, until they reached the planet they intended to make their home. It turned out that the planet was part of an alien race’s no man’s land. The ship was shot down and, before the ship could crash and burn, a portal of yellow light appeared, sucking them in. While going through, more than half the ship was destroyed, along with most of the people living on it. The 400 million people that had gotten onto the ship was a mere 10,000 when the remaining pieces of the ship landed on a planet. When the 10,000 escaped from the debris, they were met with a world that, while much like earth, had some pretty big differences. For one, the entire geographical structure was different. While the world may have still had water, land, and mountains, the way they were placed around the planet seemed, well, much more deliberate. This planet was known as Raliscia. The inhabitants of this planet looked exactly like the same humans that crashed onto the planet, with one big difference. The ability to use a powerful force that existed only in fiction to the surviving 10,000 humans; magic. These creatures were named “Raliscians.” As the 10,000 began to fit into society, the leader of the government teamed up with the leader of the Raliscians world government. The leader didn’t bother attempting to hide his interest in the magic that everyone of this other race had. He questioned the species about how the magic in this world worked, and they explained it was a simple process, and that magic acted a lot like hormones, in that it developed in the brain and spread through out the entire body. The human’s leader was discouraged when he heard that it was something that you can only be born with. However, even then, he found many things about this world questionable. For one thing, he was very interested in a strange orange beam of energy that shot out of the ground in the middle of one of the sectors. When the leader asked about this, the Raliscians explained that they had no idea where the energy was coming from, but they knew that the energy created the orange bridges of energy that can be traversed to get to other sectors, and that the beam was actually magic. But knowing this basic information still wasn’t enough. This human leader was determined to help his inferior species live on with magic. So, he started testing. The first thing he did was attempt to inject a willing participant from the 10,000 with magic from the beam. In a matter of seconds, the person’s body…melted, leading to the conclusion that a normal human being couldn’t handle magic. Next, the leader of the pathetic humans thought of making a crossbreed. So, he had one of the survivors begin a relationship with one of the planets inhabitants. The two made a cute couple as the female taught the man about some more differences between their two worlds. After about half a year, the two finally got married. The marriage sent the world into a shock. The leader and smaller leaders came as representatives for their areas in the other six sectors, and watched the wedding unfold. Once the vows were told and the kiss happened, the world cheered for the union between the two species. I’ll admit, it’s the only truly pure moment I can point to in the disgusting human’s history. After the wedding, though, everything began to go wrong. More specifically, about a month after the wedding, the couple had announced they were having a child. Unlike the slight surprise before, the world seemed to treat this like something bigger than even small scale wars. The outcome was heavily debated. “Will it be human?” “Will it be able to perform magic?” “Will it come out disfigured?” Despite the speculations, everyone was clueless, and eagerly awaited the result. So, when the nine months had passed and it was time, everyone sat in their homes and waited for the magic window to appear, stating the results. Every leader came, and waited even more eagerly. Scientists were giddy and couldn’t wait for the possible scientific changes this could make. For ten hours, they all waited patiently in a tense silence. The human father came out, holding the child. The M.P checker, who had also come to see if he could sense any magic in the child, walked toward the child and painted a asterisk on the child’s forehead. Everyone’s eyes widened as the man pulled back his hand, witch had been set on fire. People began to stand up as the father laughed maniacally, revealing himself to be the creator, and the child to be his. Before anyone could react appropriately, the creator caused a massive explosion of energy, that spread over the entire planet. However, nothing was destroyed, and no one was blown back. Instead, the humans found themselves feeling strange, and the creator disappears along with his child. After the accident, M.P checkers found that the humans had trace amounts of magic developing from their brains. However, the humans couldn’t use it exactly like the Raliscians without help. If they wanted to use the magic inside them, they would have to rely on items enchanted with a certain spell. This spell allowed them to use spells or skills once they’d developed enough magic, exactly like the original planet inhabitants. As these items were being developed, the humans asked if they could make weapons that would allow them to use magic in a much more offensive way. “Well, we can make swords that work that way.” With that, the Raliscians began creating swords enchanted with the spell of “Magic Advance,” witch would allow the humans to grow and advance their magic along with unlocking special spells known as skills, that range in usefulness. Of course, they couldn’t just give the idiotic humans weapons. They needed places to teach them how to use the weapons, and that’s where the idea for the schools for swordsmanship came from. As the humans and Raliscians discussed these plans, the humans showed disgusting and horrible they all are…by killing our leaders without even giving them the dignity of a proper duel, instead slitting their throats. The humans took over and built the worlds they saw fit. They declared that all the Raliscians, besides a set amount, could choose to live in the outer parts of the sectors and follow the basic world laws or stay in the kingdoms and towns of the sector and follow much more strict laws. Every Raliscian that wasn’t being forced to stay ran for the outer parts of the sectors, creating new homes from scratch. Even then, they were still forced to enter the towns and kingdom for things like food. Years passed, and the kingdoms began to become a lot like the original earth. And then, in the year 2940, they created a special piece of hardware that can be put around your head with a headband and a smaller strap around your ear. It can create A.R windows that can bring up browser pages, navigation apps, a digital library with ebooks and PDFs that can be read, etc. So, that brings us to today. The Raliscians still live in the outer regions of the sectors, the humans and Raliscians attend schools of swordsmanship to become the governments knights, and I write this essay, vowing to show every human how pathetic and evil they truly are. … Adam closes the ePub, his fingernails digging into the train seat. “I’ll make them pay…I promise, mom.” The window shutter flips open, along with every other one on he train. He shields his eyes. “Agh, crap!” As his eyes adjust to the sunlight, he takes a look outside the train window. The marvelous ocean reflects the light of the sun, making it a beautiful light blue. He turns his attention away from the ocean and to the approaching mass of land that the train was getting closer to. “The middle sector…Alliston D.C.” The middle sector had been named after the man who murdered the original ruler of the Raliscians. He looks over at the box holding his sheathed broadsword. “Alright, humanity. Here I come.” … People move across the school gardens, setting up things like red balloons, banners, chairs, a table and cake, etc. The student president admires the student’s hard work as she passes by. “You’re all doing wonderful! I’m sure our new student will love it!” The men blush at the president’s compliment. “Hey, Fred.” Fred, snapping out of his gazing at the sky, turns around. “What do you want, Matthew?” Matthew stretches his arms. “Nothing…really.” Fred’s face morphs into one of annoyance at Matthews answer. “Then why are you here?” Matthew raises his shoulders. “Well, go away. I’m busy.” He begins moving his hand randomly were Matthew can’t see. “Well, actually, I have a favor to ask.” Fred, no longer willing to talk to him, waits for him to make his request. “I need you to help get our star of the show out of her funk.” Matthew points in the direction of a picnic bench, where there sits a girl with long, brown hair. Her deep, blue eyes seems focused on a a.r window no one else can see. Nothing about her really stands out, aside from her uniform. The usual school uniform is pretty basic. It consists of a pair of black dress pants/black skirts for boys or girls, a white dress shirt with a thin red line coming down from the shoulders to a couple inches below the collar, a special sheath distributed by the school, varied for different weapon types, and, finally, a tie displaying your rank. The difference in her uniform, however, comes from the fact that her uniform has no tie, and is replaced with a design on the back of her shirt. The design is two snakes criss-crossing with each other, and under it is the number twenty. The reason for the differences is that, once you become one of the top twenty students in the academy, you’ll be given, by the school, a new uniform and much more spacious accommodations. From ranks 20-11, your uniform will lose the tie and be replaced with a serpent and number under it. From ranks 10-4, the serpent will be replaced by a griffin with a number in gold. Finally, in the ranks of 3-1, the uniforms can be custom made by the wearer. And that’s just talking about uniforms. In other words, the fact she’s wearing a uniform like one of these sends chills down Fred’s spine, as he imagines how she could be so much more stronger than the other thousands of students who attend the academy. “You want me to talk to her?!” People turn to the two, and Fred awkwardly chuckles to get them to look away. “I mean, she may look threatening, but deep down, she’s just like us. Besides, how do you think the president will react?” Matthew makes a feminine gasp. “Oh, Fred! What could I ever do to repay you for your kindness? Maybe…a kiss?” The thought makes Fred immediately changes his tune. “I’m on it.” Matthew slaps him on the back. “That’s my boy! Now go get our star in higher hopes!” Fred takes a deep breath before walking towards the table. “Excuse me?” No response. He reaches out his arm and taps her shoulder. “Ahh!” She jumps from her spot, making Fred jump back, hand on hilt. “Oh…It’s just you.” She sits back down, making a circle with her fingers in from of her eye glass. ‘This was a mistake.’ “How shall I repay you?” Fred immediately snaps out go his doubt as he remembers his motivation and once again walks toward the girl. “Um, might I ask for a moment of your time?” She sighs, making an x with her fingers and turning toward Fred. “Well, get on with it. Or I’ll just get back to something more important.” ‘At least pretend you care! How could our lovely president think so highly of you?!’ Fred chokes back these words, and instead asks, “You don’t seem to be in such high hopes as everyone else. Might I ask why that is?” She glares at him. “I don’t believe in celebrating students who get in here from their families accomplishments.” Fred raises an eyebrow. “What do you mean?” She grinds her teeth. “Tell me, how much hard work and effort did you put into getting in this school?” He taps his chin. “Well, I spent every day of my life practicing and training.” She nods her head. “You see, people like you and me should be the ones who get into schools like these! Not people like him! I bet he’s all high and mighty, thinking how much better he is that everyone.”Oh, I’m so much better than everyone cause my mom’s a knight!” Bullcrap!” Fred feels his knees shake a little and he pulls on his collar. “Um, but if that were true, then some of the top twenty wouldn’t be people who fit that description, would they?” She gives him a chilling glare as she responds with, “Every truth has it’s exceptions.” He nods her point. “Right, you’re absolutely right! It’s just, I mean, doesn’t that seem narrow minded? For all we know, he may be exactly like both of us…maybe even stronger.” She laughs out loud. “I highly doubt it.” Fred sighs. ‘Is there anything that I can beat into her skull?’ He gets an idea. “Why don’t you see if you’re correct?” She raises her eyebrow. “If you can do what the school asks of you, then maybe I can allow you to humiliate him in front of everyone. Maybe…a duel?” She gives him a face of contemplation. “Interesting. And you can promise me this?” He imagines the face of disappointment the student president will make to his decision. Despite that, he he nods his head. “Yes. As vice president of the student council, I can make an official promise that you may duel the new student.” She grins. “Um, Fred!” He turns his head and finds the student president, giving him a warm smile. ‘I’m so sorry!’ “Well, I’ll be on my way, Ms…?” She grins. “Feline Sacret, and thank you. It seems I may enjoy today after all.” Fred gulps, horrified. |
